The changelog names the Bricks version we tested each Kiln release on.
Modules that need another plugin
Every other module needs no other plugin. Google sign-in and Google reviews also need keys from your own Google account. Without the plugin a module needs, it stays greyed out in Bricks > Kiln.
Needs WooCommerce (5)
- Shop: order products by SKU, stock or sales
- Shop: confirm email & password on registration
- Shop: brand in breadcrumbs
- Query loop: product variations
- Condition: customer has purchased
Needs WPML or Polylang (1)
Polylang is tested. WPML support follows WPML’s documented API but hasn’t been tested on a live WPML site yet.
Page caches
Most modules output the same HTML for every visitor, so any page cache works. These modules change what a visitor sees, so the cache matters:
- Condition: device: The result differs per device, so a page that checks it cannot come from one shared cache. When the page
evaluates a Device condition, Kiln tells page-cache plugins not to cache it (the
DONOTCACHEPAGEconstant, the LiteSpeed Cache no-cache call, and no-cache headers when they have not been sent yet). - Admin: maintenance mode bypass: A response that Kiln lets through by IP address or cookie is marked uncacheable: the
DONOTCACHEPAGEconstant, LiteSpeed's no-cache call andno-cacheheaders. This keeps a page cache from storing the real site and showing it to anonymous visitors. Kiln leaves pages of a public post type cacheable, because everyone may see them. - Condition: cookie: A cookie differs for every visitor, so a page that checks one cannot come from a shared cache. When the page
evaluates a Cookie condition, Kiln tells page-cache plugins not to cache it (the
DONOTCACHEPAGEconstant, the LiteSpeed Cache no-cache call, and no-cache headers when they have not been sent yet). - Condition: customer has purchased: This condition does not mark the page uncacheable. A logged-out visitor has bought nothing, so a cache that serves logged-out visitors stays correct.
Kiln tells caching plugins not to cache the pages where these modules decide what to show. A host or CDN cache that ignores that signal needs a rule of its own, such as a separate copy per device or a bypass for the cookie. Each module’s page has the details.
If you remove Kiln
Deleting the plugin from Plugins removes every Kiln option and the search-log table. Deactivating it keeps them. Image focus points stay on your images, so a reinstall picks them up.
