How to use it
- In Bricks > Kiln, under Admin & agency, turn on Admin: white label. Click Save modules. The module is off by default.
- Open Settings under the module.
- Fill in any of the three fields. Each works on its own.
- Name: up to 40 characters. Kiln keeps letters, digits, spaces, dots, dashes and underscores. Anything else is removed.
- Menu icon: a Dashicons name such as
dashicons-admin-customizer. The field links to the Dashicons list. A value in any other form is cleared. Empty keeps the builder's icon. - Builder logo (toolbar and loading screen; a square image works best in the toolbar): click Choose image and pick an image from the Media Library. Remove clears it.
- Click Save modules.
Where it appears in Bricks
- The admin menu entries (the full menu, the templates link that restricted users see, and form submissions).
- "Edit with …": the admin bar, row actions, edit screens and the block editor.
- The admin bar's "Rendered with …" and "Render with …" switch, and its "Go to: … > Settings / Templates" items.
- The post state in the page list, the "Duplicate (…)" row action and the classic editor's tab.
- The theme's name on Appearance > Themes, and the parent line of a child theme.
With a Menu icon set, the menu entries use that icon.
With a Builder logo set, the builder's toolbar logo and loading-screen logo change. The line under the logo on the loading screen (the bricksbuilder.io link) is hidden.
How it works
The name goes into Bricks' own translated strings, so it works in every language. The logo is swapped with CSS
content: url() on Bricks' own images, so Kiln never touches the builder's toolbar code. The logo must be an image from
the Media Library. Kiln uses its medium size and checks it when the builder loads.
The "Rendered with …" and "Render with …" strings also name WordPress for the other editing mode. Kiln renames them only where they name Bricks.
Limits
- Bricks' own settings pages, notices and documentation links keep Bricks' name.
- "Delete Bricks data" and the "not enabled for post type" notice keep Bricks' name.
- Only a theme folder named
bricksis renamed on Appearance > Themes. - The builder's browser tab title carries no brand, so Kiln leaves it alone.
- Testing so far covers the builder logo swap in Chromium only, not Firefox.
- While the module License page: hide it from client administrators is on with chosen administrators, only they can change these settings or turn White label on or off. Everyone else sees the row locked with "Managed by another administrator." With that module off, or when every chosen administrator is deleted or loses administrator rights, any administrator can change them. This keeps the settings out of client administrators' way. It is not access control: an administrator can still edit site options directly.
